Google Maps in your website

6/26/2013

It is very common for websites to have some sort of Google Maps integration in them, geolocating their offices, clients etc Most of the time, it involves writing the webpart or user control which shall integrate with Google, parse response etc etc..

A cunning trick i learnt (courtesy Francois )was to use Images of these Maps and put them into your website. Yes, you heard me right, rather than developing the whole application from scratch, I would normally get the image of my address from maps.google.com and put this image in my page.

To handle the user interaction, tap the mouse/keyborad event on the image and send the request to maps.goole as GET.This would open a new web page with the address pre loaded.

Think about it, how many and how many times does the address for your location change? If its not that much why waste precious time writing code which shall never be utilised ?
